The Brighton Marathon
The Brighton Marathon celebrated its second year in style with two new sparkling course records on yet another morning of glorious sunny weather. All the plaudits were for the women’s winner Alyson Dixon who obliterated the course record by over half an hour.
Goldstar Heathrow were there again, providing logistic support to the second Brighton Marathon and an even bigger convoy of vehicles than in 2010. This included ten 13.5m trailers to hold the personal belongings of all the runners, and ten more vehicles to distribute over 75 tonnes of water and sports drinks to specific points around the course. All the vehicles had to be in place well before any runners arrived and the all the drinks delivered and the course cleared in good time for the run to begin. So it was a bright and early start from Goldstar's premises near Heathrow. Getting the logistics right was much easier second time around and the day went without a hitch and was enjoyed by all!
DfT Listed Air Cargo Agent
As part of continuous improvement within
Goldstar Heathrow, we have recently been awarded the status of Listed Air Cargo Agent (No 834) as approved by the DfT
(Department for Transport), enabling us to handle SPX and/or SCO cargo for our clients. Our staff receive continuous training and the security of our facility is reviewed on a regular basis, ensuring our operation is compliant with DfT regulations at all times.
Garry Macpherson, our Security Officer and Nathalie Magahy from Goldstar Credit Control worked tirelessly behind the scenes and were instrumental in achieving our DfT Regulated Agent status.
CPC Driver Training
With the introduction of new Driver CPC Legislation
(Driver Certificate of Professional Competence), drivers of vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are now required by law to complete 35 hours of CPC Driver Training before September 2014. The Driver CPC Legislation is being introduced across the European Union to maintain high driving standards and improve road safety.

Wish upon a Goldstar
Charlie Fulk, Sales Director at
Goldstar Heathrow was interviewed by Commercial Motor magazine. Charlie talks about how he and Managing Director Mark Bassil have taken the company from one driver, one truck and a £500,000 annual turnover 10 years ago, to the current fleet of 65 vehicles, 110 staff and £7m turnover. Charlie says he doesn't drive much himself anymore - his main role now is attracting new business - but occasionally he does feel the need to get out on the road. Last year he had one trip to Cambridge and says "it was bliss". You can read the full interview

Old Windsor Carnival
Goldstar Heathrow were in attendance at the Old Windsor Carnival again in 2011. Held over a long weekend in June and blessed with good weather the theme was 'Heroes and Villains'. Goldstar supplied eight trucks for the event and again, as last year, the organisers were extremely grateful for the logistical support we provided. Goldstar trucks were commissioned to carry floats for a number of local organisations including Old Windsor’s Scout Troop, the Brownies and Old Windsor Parish Church. Our drivers may be better known as 'heroes' who collect and deliver freight throughout the year but they were very happy to transport a diverse bunch of 'villains' through the streets of Windsor on this sunny day. The great news is that both the heroes & the villains raised lots of money for charity on the day too!
