Making a move… for a bright future

Goldstar Heathrow has moved to a new site at Colnbrook. Located only 7 minutes from the cargo terminal at Heathrow Airport, 3 minutes from junction 14 on the M25 and close to the M4 intersection and the A4 – the new HQ has fast access to London, the home counties and the rest of the UK. The new premises consolidate offices, warehouse, vehicle workshops and training facilities in one self contained 2.4 acre site.

Fully secured with automated gate entry, the new site has parking for 35 trucks and 20 artic trailers, a 10,000 sq ft warehouse with 3-level access doors and a 3-bay vehicle workshop with access for high Q7 trailers. Our drivers are well catered for with excellent facilities and our plush new offices include a state-of-the-art control room and provide a high quality working environment for our office staff and a pleasant experience for visiting customers. With a dedicated training room for 16 trainees and a well equipped large specialised training area for hands on training in manual handling, load securing and first aid, we are now able to offer our staff the best training opportunities on site.

We are very excited about this new venture and truly believe that consolidating our business into one all encompassing site will allow us to grow and maintain our status as the leading airfreight transport company at London Heathrow.

Goldstar Scotland

We have opened a new trading division – Goldstar Scotland. Based at Glasgow airport with a team of highly experienced staff led by Regional Director Jim Murdoch, this new venture will enable us to provide a more focussed and better service for customers in Scotland.

Investing in the future

Despite the tough economic times Goldstar Heathrow shows it has an appetite to continue to invest in the future with the purchase of new trucks and IT equipment. New state-of-the-art M3 Sky PDAs have been rolled out across the workforce and Goldstar Heathrow's fleet has seen the addition of 10 new Mercedes Actros tractor units and 2 new Mercedes 7.5 Tonners, as part of an on going replacement and replenishment programme. Goldstar Heathrow hopes that this statement of intent brings confidence to our customers.

Leading the way with a new management team

Goldstar Heathrow continues to develop and the management leadership team has been consolidated, with a new Managing Director – Paul Graham, who joined the company initially as Commercial Director. Mark Bassil, co-founder and Goldstar Heathrow’s Managing Director for over 10 years, decided to step down and let Paul take the lead. Mark continues as a Director, focussing on specific management and operational areas. A new management team led by Paul has been formed with Director and co-founder Charlie Fulk, working alongside Mark and the new Operations Director Ram Aulakh, who was appointed a Director following 6 dedicated years of service with the company.

New positions and new recruits

A new senior management position with a focus on training and development was recently created with Katie Crozier joining the company as Head of Human Resources, together with new a new HR & Payroll officer Depali Gamma. David Bacon has joined Goldstar Heathrow in a new Client Operations Manager position and the company has also welcomed new new accounts assistant Kelly Debenham, new controller Ajay Sharma and new drivers Darren Emeny, Daryl Orsman and Matt Boulden.

Goldstar Heathrow recently introduced a new staff reward scheme. The Award for Excellence scheme recognises exceptional customer service. Staff members receive the award based upon positive customer feedback.

Ashley Beasley was nominated by Expeditors for his sense of ownership, his communication with the customer and his willingness to do that extra bit and Costel Sandu by Ceva for his happy pleasant manner and always going the extra mile. Mark Morgan was nominated by UPS for his attention to detail and his ability to keep the customer informed along the way and James Drew also nominated by UPS for his can-do attitude. Alan Tucker was nominated by Crane Worldwide for his dedication to get the job done and to do it with a smile, Andy Cook by UPS for his professionalism and attention to detail regarding Air Security and John Appleton by Expeditors for his can do attitude and possessing the ability to turn a bad situation into a positive one.

Spreading the news

Goldstar Heathrow continues to grow and so as a way to keep all staff members informed a new staff newsletter has been introduced. Still in its early days, Goldstar News currently shares the management team’s strategy and goals with staff and reports on news events happening in the company.

Goldstar Karting

Our drivers returned to the track at Sandown Park in the annual Goldstar Heathrow karting event. A competitive but fun spirit pervaded the day, which consisted of a 30 min practice run followed by a 2.5 hour endurance race. The drivers’ families and friends came along to support. What a shame the weather didn’t let up, but despite the downpour a great day was had by all!
